A man who had planned to propose to his girlfriend in the Netherlands with a mobile crane lift, is lucky not to have landed in hospital. This is after the proposal ended with the crane toppling over and smashing the roof of her neighbour's house and forcing the evacuation of two other houses.
The man had wanted to surprise the girlfriend by lifting himself to stand before her bedroom window in a bucket attached to the crane. Then when she came to the window, he would sing her a song and pop the question.
However, he did not secure the vehicle carrying the crane, and when the angle shifted, the unsecured crane toppled over into the rooftops.
Luckily for the man, he was not hurt, and went ahead with a much simpler proposal. The woman is reported to have still said yes, and the couple are now celebrating in Paris.
Following the initial impact, more damage was done when the crane fell again during an attempt to right it. According to the BBC, residents in nearby properties were evacuated but no one was injured.
