For Valentine’s Day have you thought of the most romantic destination to spend time with your other half. Here is a list that takes lovers on a journey around the world’s most beautiful places to inspire their own Valentine’s Day plans.

Are you looking for a last minute getaway with your loved one? Whilst Paris, Venice and Bora Bora spring to mind as quintessentially romantic locations, why not think outside the box when it comes to deciding where to spend this Valentine’s Day? Below are 6 of the most idyllic, romantic spots to escape to this February.

1.   Petra, Jordan
Take in the stunning surroundings of a UNESCO World Heritage Site with your loved one this Valentine’s Day. In a city renowned for its charm, explore the rose-colored buildings whilst learning about Petra’s cultural heritage.

2.   Chaouen, Morocco
Get lost among the beautiful blue buildings in Chaouen, northwest Morocco. In one of the country’s most picturesque cities, you can wander the romantic cobblestone streets, and visit authentic Moroccan cafes and restaurants. If you’re looking for a more adventurous escape, hike up the nearby Rif Mountains and enjoy picturesque views of the Mediterranean Sea.

3.   Ubud, Indonesia
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle with your loved one this February 14th, then the peace and serenity of Ubud will definitely suit you. Known as Bali’s center for healing, Ubud is the perfect place to relax and unwind in one of the local spas. Enjoy fine Indonesian dining, explore paddy fields, and climb up to the Campuhan Ridge for panoramic views of your stunning surroundings.

4.   Zanzibar, Tanzania
Visit Zanzibar in February and you can expect blue skies and warm weather to explore the beautiful Stone Town, the old area and cultural heart of Zanzibar City. While away the hours wandering around the winding alleyways, visiting the city’s bazaars and stunning mosques. Don’t miss the spectacular white sandy beaches, where you can take romantic strolls and enjoy the fresh seafood.

5.   Arequipa, Perú
Great food, amazing architecture, and incredible landscapes: Arequipa - Peru’s second largest city - is a stunning getaway location. The city is surrounded by three volcanoes, dominated by white buildings - which earned Arequipa the nickname The White City -, and in 2000, its historical center became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

6.   Calabar, Nigeria
For the more adventurous couple, now is just the right time to visit Calabar before the rains set in. The city is at the nexus of some of Nigeria's most stunning natural attractions, including: the Kwa Falls, Obudu Hills, Afi Mountain sanctuary and the Tinapa resort. Once your adventures are done, return to Calabar's laid-back charm and sample the city's variety of fresh water delicacies.

  1. I have visited the Calabar, Nigeria before my washington tours on the recent valentine occasion. Great Kwa River is one of my favourite and Kwa Falls in Cross River National Park looks stunning view to the visitors. Spectacular waterfall with the mangrove forest make it special one to visit. Next I will make a plan to visit the Chaouen, Morocco.
