5 Ideas How to Show Character with Personal Style

Posted in: , , , ,

Choosing clothes and getting dressed is a part of our daily routine. But, have you ever asked yourself what are your clothes revealing about you? Usually, each clothing item we wear tells its personal story to the world.

It represents who we are, how we look, what we like, and even a group we're part of. You could almost say that clothes are a visual representation of our feelings and moods.
To show our character with style, we must “dress to look like ourselves“. And what looks better on ourselves than the confidence and comfort of wearing the clothes we like? However, finding such items usually isn’t the easiest task. So, here are 5 tips for showing character with personal style.

1. Colours and patterns

When we're shopping for clothes, we may notice that various colours and patterns are eye-catching to different types of people. Some people like stripes, other brightly coloured clothes, but what we all have in common is our love for shopping.

You don't have to be up to date with the latest fashion to know what colours you like and what looks good on you. But before you buy anything, firstly define your style or a ”trademark” you’ll go by.
Different colours can symbolise different personality traits. For example, if you're wearing bright colours such as mustard yellow or passion red, you're a trendsetter! People usually perceive you as a friendly, charming, and approachable person.

Besides that, brightly coloured clothes give off the positive and comfy vibe, they lift your mood and make you happier when you’re feeling down. On the other hand, classic black and white tones make you look well-groomed and classy. If you’re a sophisticated, well organised and mannered person, fill your wardrobe with these colours.

By wearing abstract prints such as tribal or geometrical, you're showing everyone that you are a bold person. You don't like to be told what to do. You speak your mind and love to express your individuality by leaving people under the impression that you're a creative and expressive individual.

2. Fitting and size of clothes

To feel confident in our bodies, we tend to wear clothing items that match our body shapes. Depending on our body type and confidence, we buy clothes that enhance or hide different parts of our bodies. And this tells a lot about who we are.

For example, by wearing loose clothes, you come off as open-minded and more liberal than those who wear tight-fitted clothing. Be careful not to mix loose fitted clothes with oversized. Oversized clothing can sometimes be perceived as messy and careless. It hides our bodies, allowing others to see us as less confident and shy.

On the other hand, tight clothes are usually seen as fashionable. They enhance body parts and may boost your confidence.

At the end of the day, body shape shouldn't matter at all. The important thing is that we feel confident and comfortable in our bodies. By being so, we radiate positivity and have a better outlook on the world. We’re happier and have more freedom to truly express ourselves.

3. Different kinds of tees

Everyone loves tees- colourful tees, tees with the slogan, graphic tees, basic tees, and so on. By wearing your favourite kind of t-shirt, you're showing off your personality. Tees are always trendy, so if you can't decide what to wear, a t-shirt should be your way to go. They can be combined with every clothing style imaginable, so you don't have to spend hours in your wardrobe getting ready.

For example, slogan tees show that you aren’t scared of voicing your opinion. If you like being in the center of attention, slogan tees should be your top choice. They give a loud and clear message, just like you. However, if you're artsy chic, graphic tees are for you. Show off your creativity by wearing an art piece on your t-shirt.

4. Clothes for every occasion

No matter if you want to go for a walk on the beach, on a picnic date, or to the mall, finding appropriate clothing that is both elegant and practical can be really hard. There are the days when we want to dress smart without trying too hard, but at the same time, we want to be unique and express ourselves through clothing. This all can be frustrating and spoil your mood.

To achieve the elegant, yet practical look, try going for jumpsuits like those from Style State. Show everyone that you have style and that you are a bold person who knows what she wants and how to achieve that.

5. Personalise your style

Every style needs its personal touch. To give your style some personality, add accessories. Depending on what you like, choose from different types of earrings, necklaces, hair accessories, bags, scarves, etc, and learn how to style them.

For instance, a handbag can be a great way to show your elegant but business and organised side, whereas, by wearing a pearl necklace you're showing your feminine and more gentle side. This doesn't mean that these two don't go together. After all, it's your personal style and you're showing your personality. As long as you feel good about yourself, no trend or norm can stop you.

Clothes can be your best friend, but social norms can be your worst enemy if you fall under their influence. Whether you like elegant or sporty style more, stay true to yourself. That's how your character will be the spotlight. Remember, trends come and go, but the style is forever.
