How to Determine Your Life Instead of Life Determining You

Giordana Toccaceli Reveals How to Determine Your Life Instead of Life Determining You

You are in full control of your own life path, no one else. Even when you feel as though life has a way of pulling you from one direction to another, you're still the one in control. The control is always in your hands, it's just up to you to use it.

Spouses, partners, parents, bosses, friends, and other people in your life can't determine your life for you. You must live your own life and break free of any negative cycles you're currently in.

If you’re not sure where to start, here are some things you can do to start determining your own life, instead of it determining you.

Make a List of All the Things You Desire

First things first, you can't determine your life without a plan. You don't need to write out every small detail of how you can be rich and successful in ten years. Instead, make a simple list of all the things you desire.

Take the time to really think about what you want. The items on your list can be material things, a state of mind, or something else. It will give you a good starting point.

Discover You as an Individual

Now it's time to discover you as an individual. More often than not, we grow up to become products of our environments and our caregivers. Take a moment to think about your personality and some of your character traits.

Do you get these traits from your mom, your dad, grandfather, or someone else who had a big impact on you while growing up? Now is the time to let go of other people's characteristics and find your own. Who are you?

What makes you, you and no one else? Finding yourself might require you to get away from everyday life for a while and spend time looking into yourself on a deeper level.

Give Yourself Attainable Goals

Once you know who you are, you can then give yourself attainable goals. If you give yourself far-fetched goals, such as owning a large mansion in a year from now, there is a very slim chance that you’ll accomplish it. When you're unable to reach it, you will feel let down by yourself and unmotivated.

Don't do this to yourself. Instead, create goals that are realistic, which doesn't mean goals that require no effort.

The goals you give yourself can be challenging but should be ones that are doable and bring some type of value to your life.

Shut Down Negative Thoughts

Unfortunately, we all have a voice in our heads constantly trying to break us down. Do you notice this voice often? Have you realized you might be too hard on yourself at times?

If you haven't realized it yet, it's time to start. Each time you hear that voice in your head tell you something negative, shut it down. It's easier said than done, but with practice, it becomes second nature.

Rather than listening to the bad, replace it with something positive about yourself.

Put Yourself on a Daily Schedule

When you put yourself on a daily schedule or routine, your body will begin to accept and eventually expect it as normal, which can be extremely beneficial.

Let's say you're not getting enough sleep at night. You have trouble falling asleep and wake up each morning still feeling exhausted. If you go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, then your body will become used to this schedule. Over time, you'll begin falling asleep with no problem and waking up refreshed and ready to go as well.

Start a Savings Account

If money is a common issue that arises in your daily life, then it's time to take control of that aspect as well. Money shouldn't control your life, you should. Control your money, and you're controlling your life.

Start a savings account with your local bank. Keep in mind there are many different kinds of savings accounts.

Find one with the best interest rate so your money will grow interest faster. Then, try making money on the side. Start a hobby you enjoy and find ways to make money from it

For example, if you like knitting, then knit different items and sell them. Place all of this extra money into your savings account. It's good to have money there when financial emergencies happen, but it's also good to have money to treat yourself with from time to time as well.

Speak with a Relationship Coach

If you haven't considered speaking with a relationship coach, then it’s something you might want to look into. Is your current relationship controlling you, or maybe is the lack of a relationship controlling your life?

When you're unsure how to balance your love life with the rest of your life, then a relationship coach could be a big help. You deserve a partner who allows you to remain in control of how you want to live, and a relationship coach can help you find this person
