Omawumi On Why She & Husband Waited So Long After First Pregnancy To Get Married

Singer Omawunmi has opened up in a recent Punch interview  that she got pregnant for her now husband, Tosin Yussuf, when she did not know him well enough for a committed relationship. She said that was the main reason they had to take their time after the baby was born and not jump into marriage. She admitted that they wanted to be sure it was love, and they were not just getting married because they have a child together.

Wonder Woman singer Omawumi had her court wedding with fiance Tosin Yusuf today January 16th at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos. The couple got engaged last year after dating for several years. Omawumi Denies She's Married But Keeps Wedding Plans Secret

Omawumi Megbele has reacted to the widespread report of a secret wedding to her fiance Tosin Yussuf. The singer told Channels TV at the recently held Genevieve Pink Ball that she is simply ‘engaged’, and not yet married. The secret wedding was said to have taken place in Warri sometime in September.

At the time Omawumi Megbele was reported to have secretly carried out her traditional engagement with Tosin Yussuf, her fiance and the father of her 3 year old daughter back in September, some said the singer was pregnant.

Omawumi And Fiance Secretly Tie The Knot At Her Hometown

Omawumi Megbele is reported to have secretly carried out her traditional engagement with Tosin Yussuf, her fiance and the father of her 3 year old daughter in a private ceremony on Saturday, September 13.

The couple performed the initial traditional marriage rites at a very low-key event, which held at her late father’s house in Warri, Delta State.

The engagement ceremony was marked alongside the singer’s late Dad’s 10th year memorial in Warri. According to reports, the event had only a few people and family members in attendance, including Singer Waje and her manager, Sunday Are.

After a proposal from Tosin Yusuf, her daughter's father, now her fiance, Omawumi has officially unveiled her family this morning..

When news of Omawumi's pregnancy broke in 2011, the identity of her baby’s father was shrouded in mystery, and as such, several random names began to fly around.

Omawumi welcomed the baby in June 2011 and named her Emmanuella Kamillah Yussuf, leading to media reports that Tosin Yussuf, one time co-owner of Zamunda night club was actually Kamillah’s father.

The baby’s godmother, Waje seemed to confirm this when she mentioned Tosin Yussuf in a tweet last year in reference to rumors that Omawumi's baby daddy was not well. She wrote; ‘Tosin Yussuf is fine and well, leave the poor girl alone. Tufiakwa!!!’.
