Dear Myne - He said I Used him and now Treats me Badly

Posted in: , , ,

I have been following your blog for a while and I am a fan especially on the Dear Myne segment. Please I need different opinions on what is currently going on in my life so I could make a decision especially from your people who follow you as I find them quite mature. Ok here goes my story, quite long but please indulge me.

While I was in the university, I dated this guy, I am a born again christian but he isn't but I loved him. He is actually a good guy. We broke up after service due to mainly distance and slight misunderstandings.

When he came back to Lagos after service, he tried to reconnect but I was already dating someone else but he kept on. He persisted until he traveled to the UK for his Masters on scholarship. Before he traveled, he told me to wait for him that he was going to come back because I was single as at the time he was living. He even introduced me to his folks but I wasn't comfortable with the distance thing. Long distance has never been my thing.

Peter Okoye - February Man Candy #18

Posted in: , ,

Looking for pics to showcase Peter Okoye, I had to restrain myself to just these ones. Peter Okoye is one half of a music duo PSquare, and they are among the biggest and most entertaining performers, with their influence extending to most of Africa and outside. Of course, we can't forget that he's a domestic Nigerian man, he is taken and has two children.

We Thank God For Dame Patience Jonathan, But...

Dame Patience and Goodluck Jonathan at portrait unveiling

I am very happy for Dame Patience Jonathan. In a recent thanksgiving for her continued good health, she talked about her three months in the hospital, her near-death experience and how she survived thus:

“I remember when Chief Obasanjo was the President of the country, I was close to his late wife, Stella. We worshiped together in this chapel. It was a painful moment for me that time when she (Stella) died and her corpse was brought here. That was how my corpse would have been brought here. It was not an easy experience for me. I actually died, I passed out for more than a week. My intestine and tummy were opened.

“I am not Lazarus but my experience was similar to his. My doctors said all hope was lost. “A black doctor in London who is with us in this service was flown in when the situation became critical. It was God himself in His infinite mercy that said I will return to Nigeria. God woke me up after seven days.

Kim Kardashian in Nigeria - Blink and You Miss Her

Posted in: , ,

Seriously, I wonder why event promoters even bother sometimes. Like I said when the Williams sisters stopped over in Nigeria, "I wonder at the money spent on bringing international celebrities to Nigeria. Could the money be better used?" At least Serena and Venus were there for a few days and held tennis classes and  spoke at events about their sport.

That unfortunately cannot be said for Kim Kardashian. She spent barely an hour at the event she was invited for, just to take pictures with Darey, Tuface and Tiwa. I hope those who paid for the event felt they got their money's worth. Not to throw shade or anything, but what again is Kim K famous for? I want to say sex tape, but I won't. Oh yes, she runs a fashion business with her sisters, but I know her Nigerian visit was not to show/launch a clothes line or perfume.

I get it now, Nigeria will be a 2-second clip in the next season of her reality show. Maybe.

Sons, Girlfriends, and Prospective Mothers-in-Law

“I will kill you, kill you!” She screamed, as she tightened her grip on the knife.

It was a Saturday morning that started just like any other ordinary day but for Nike it was a special day – one that she did not look forward to. Will she like me? Won’t she think I’m too fat or too short? She thought to herself. She would have remained on the bed tossing and turning if not for the consistent vibration under her pillow. She tried to ignore it, but the vibration started to make her head buzz irritatingly. She gave up and reached for the phone under the pillow.

“Hallo.”

“Don’t tell me you’re still sleeping, I should be at your place in thirty minutes tops.” It was Niyi’s baritone.

Nike placed the phone down in a flash, without ending the call. She flew into the bathroom, grabbed her toothbrush and in between brushing her teeth and running her bath water – she brought out the prospective costumes for the day. The jeans and tank top was all wrong because she felt it would make her look unserious and the skirt suit was too severe, that will make her look too formal.

Who Knows Where I Can Find Icheku Fruit?

Posted in: , ,

It looks like a black valentine bouquet but it's just a bunch of a fruit I loved and would gorge on sometimes while still in Nigeria. I want some now! LOL...

Happy weekend people. Let's shake off and have some fun. This is called Icheku in Igbo, what is it called in your Nigerian or African language? Is there an English or botanical name? Most importantly, where can I find some to buy outside Nigeria, specifically in the USA North-west?

Yemi Blaq - February Man Candy #17

Posted in: ,

Yemi Blaq is a versatile Nollywood actor, one of the best out there, and I watch out for his movies since his head-turning performance in Letters to a Stranger. His eyes, voice...talk about tall, dark and handsome. Yemi is married, and I find it sexy that he often talks about his wife, who is a writer too :)

Triple Chocolate Meltdown - A Sweet Treat

Posted in: ,

This is a short post. The Triple Chocolate Meltdown desert is my weakness whenever we go out to eat. Once I see it on the menu, dinner looks even better and what I'm having for my sweet treat afterwards is settled. Doesn't it make you want to lick the screen? :)

Femi Fani-Kayode Blames Oscar Pistorius's Girlfriend

Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steencamp

Not only did Femi Fani-Kayode blame Reeva Steenkamp for her death, he also belittled her life and work, labeling her with all those names insecure "I must be an alpha male by force" types use for beautiful and/or opinionated women. Fani-Kayode is a former Nigerian minister, and still speaks and engages in some online political and social activism. He also seems to be a religious type, and some people consider him a moral role model. Well, as they say, we learn everyday. What a beauty social media is.

Femi Fani-Kayode wrote the message below on his Facebook page after the Feb. 14 event involving Oscar Pistorius and his now-dead girlfriend, Reeva Steencamp.

I have little doubt that Pistorius, who was a great achiever, a living icon, the greatest and best known African sportsman in world history and an absolute gentleman, was provoked into a murderous rage by his pretty little lover and that she played on his insecurities and inadequacies. These are the classic traits of the biblical “strange woman”- the destroyer of men’s dreams and destinies.

Only God knows who sent this creature from the sea into this great man’s life just to destroy it. For Pistorius it is all over. In one moment of blind rage he has lost everything and he has brought shame, disgrace, sorrow and infamy upon his name and that of his family. The blood he has shed will speak against him and his lineage forever. And all because of a sexy and pretty little model who the devil sent his way.

May the Lord deliver us all from the daughters of Jezebel, Delilah, Athalia and Yemoja".
