What Men Notice About Women - Atala Writes

Funke Akindele covers YNaija!

The question of what men notice immediately about women is one of those questions that keeps on popping up again and again in conversation. And no wonder... a person wants to know what everyone else is thinking so that he or she can take advantage of them... erm, I mean, have a better relationship with them. So it stands to reason that if women know what thing men notice first, then (assuming they want to attract men), they can flaunt that thing to the max, if it’s available to flaunt.

Well, that’s the theory. The reality is, as I’m sure you can guess, no two men like the same thing. Most men probably notice sizeable busts and derrieres – and I think there’s supposed to be a biological reason for that – but beyond that, I’m sure that the things that catch men’s attentions are as varied as the men themselves. For example, what really catches my attention about a women is her eyes, especially if they’re hooded and spaced wide apart. Another thing I’ll notice is her nose, if it’s small and ‘compact’.

I find it fascinating about how differently we notice these things. They’re obviously a product of our life experiences and our inherited dispositions - but I do wonder about what could have happened in someone’s life to make him fixate on the hairs in a woman’s nostrils. (Not that there’s anything wrong with nostril hair.) In the end, the visual cues are just stage one in the much bigger game of romance, but it doesn’t make it any less fascinating.

So questions for the guys?

1. What do you first notice when you meet a lady?

2. Is there a difference about what you notice and what you find attractive? The ladies can feel free to answer this one too. Like I might notice a tall girl but may find the dimpled smile on a shorter one more attractive.

  3. The first thing a guy does as he spot a babe was to rate her. After all, the whole was some of it's parts. It wasn't enough to say "the girl has nice legs" I like her. We take everything under consideration but give extra points for 'achievement' in what we loved- boobs, ass...

After observation comes action. If based on the assessment bagging the girl was worth it and wouldn't prove difficult we go for it. If not, another [dream] girl is forgotten.

  4. hmmm, I like this post.
I didn't think of wide apart eyes or small noses but now that Atala mentions it, a friend and I were talking this past weekend. He said a lady's nose was off and I wondered how that was even an issue, cuz I didn't think there was anything wrong with her nose.

This all explains why it pays to be yourself because the differences in what attracts a certain guy is different from the next. Whatever a lady has would definitely attract a guy...her guy.

  6. I know a woman who fell for a man because he has tribal marks like her late father. That is what she told me although the man is a popular African.

I heard of a white American who married an African woman with tribal marks. I could not help assuming that he fell for her tribal marks.

You can fall for a dimple because...

  7. WOw, this article re-emphazizes the reality of Social Polarity.

I like good looking men. Who doesn't like eye candy?

However, with time I've learnt to look past the hockey players and come down to earth.

    My ideal man should is:
    Godly
    Positive
    Driven
    Physically Fit
    Stylish
    Kind

  10. first thing that attracts me is a good body... and a fine face... okay, the face first lol... i usually can deal with the body (avg is okay lol) and a guy taller than me, am of average height for a lady... not asking for much hehehhe

  11. Ermmmm...1st thing i notice in a woman---booty!2nd thing i notice---bust!3rd thing i notice---hips....4th thing i notice....should i continue???loool.

But asides from stating the obvious,i think the key things for me are:
Intelligence, and her personality. If she's got a killer body to go along with it, that's fine icing that makes an even more perfect cake!

Oooh, now you've got me thinking about chics!

  12. Since young till date, one thing that attracts me to women is their level of intelligence. When a woman is intelligent, I'm automatically attracted. But if she comes forth as 'average', 'can't sustain an intelligent convo'; it's hard to go beyond the acquaintance level.

As for what I first notice about women, its the stature. 'Portability' for me is home run! lol. Not tall, not too short, just portable. That's just how I can describe it. For a full description of what I mean; my fiance does justice. lol

    Awesome post Uncle Atala :)

  13. im attracted to Cute Faces....yeah Pretty and Beautiful are all good, but Cute gets the blood going, there is something about a cute face, it bellows an unknown sense of innocence, it beckons me to be the protector of her heart, mind body and soul. though the thing that catches my eye the most is the size of a girls head.... really really Big heads kinda turn me off, especially if the head doesnt match the body.
    i guess im just weird.

  16. I'll notice a lady who can hold me spellbound with her speech and mannerisms. Besides that, a good body would surely make a lot of sense to me and catch my attention.

  17. Her walk...there are indeed many beautiful women around but how many of them REALLY know how to walk? When I sight a womanly figure 'dancing' along, transferring her body weight from one side of an invisible - but definitely existent - line of symmetry to the other in a motion i can only describe as 'fluid', THAT is attraction for me.
Keeping the attraction is then dependent on the rest, beauty, intelligence, wit, the works!

  18. Heheheee, na wa oo for all these descriptions. Big head, nose, walk (u dey find model?) Hope you are also a model oh and can walk the run-way. Anyways peeps are different but i think all these attracting things are superficial and subject to change. I go way deeper, intelligence is da ish for me. We should be able to have conversations and talk with a particular level of reasoning. You should be motivating, as in inspire me to do great things and vice versa (see Fela & Tara). And yeah every gal wants a TDH so i want too but you gotta have a good sense of reasoning and above all a lover of God.

  19. The comments here are really funny. Goes to say different things works for different people. A tall, clean and gentleman looking guy will surely catch my eyes. Beyond these, a good sense of humour, intelligence, deep appreciation for me and God fearing attitude will keep me by his side.

  20. 1. Hair! styled to perfection and not a strand loose and if she does weave, it better be high quality weave.
    2. Pretty face but not round. Oblong. Good quality makeup that blends with the skin tone and not obvious.
    3. Complexion. The darker the better mmmm
    4. Body. A nice booty is a bonus but not most important. Boobs dont have to be massive. Hips are a must tho mmmmm. A bit of flesh plssss, no models. I like em a teeny bit chubby
    5. Nails and eyelashes are a bonus. I love me some feminine women
    6. The one that carries most marks - POISE. She must strut effortlessly in those heels like shes walking barefoot and balance like a princess with grace. She must hold that wine glass and sip from it gingerly with aplomb. She must deliver those air kisses to her friends oh so gingerly and smooth. She must carry that handbag on her elbow like an artwork.
    7. The icing on the cake - She must be polite or everything above is in vain
