Solape knew her husband for over 10 years before they got married. He has been her oasis of calm when all else seemed to be falling apart, from when they first met to when he proposed 33,000feet in the sky. However, when it came to finding her dress, it was all her, simple, classy and elegant. Enjoy her wedding story.
How did you meet your husband?
I met P while I was in my first year in the University of Lagos. It was such a funny story, there I was freaking out about a situation my mum was going to kill me for and there he was really calm and collected. He talked with me and calmed me down. Ever since, he has always been my sense of reason and I call him my sanity line.
How long have you been married?
A year in September although I have known him since 2001
How did your husband propose?
Another funny story, we were on our way back from a vacation in UK, and I noticed one of my earrings was missing. There I was freaking out because I just got it so I got got the flight attendants to help look for it but to no avail. All this while P was reclined in his seat because he was ill during trip and was just trying to rest. After searching for a while for the earring I gave up. That was when he asked me to put my seat in the upright position so he can look around. When I sat up, he got on his one knee pulled out the engagement ring and asked to marry him.
How did you know your wedding dress was the one?
I have always wanted a simple yet elegant dress, my sister-in-law suggested a particular dress and the minute I tried it on I knew that was it, the dress I see myself getting married in. It was classic, elegant and simply beautiful. A Mori Lee Dress I actually bought from Imani Swank.
How was your wedding day? Anything you would do over if you had the chance?
My wedding day was perfect. The decoration was great the ambience was beautiful, the guests were lovely. The ceremony was great. It was a great day.
