Bill Cosby's lawyer, Martin Singer, has counter sued a woman who is suing the comedian for molesting her as a teenager, accusing her of "engaging in a shakedown". He wrote in court papers that Judy Huth had tried unsuccessfully to sell the same story about the US comedian to a tabloid a decade ago.
He said the lawsuit brought by the claimant and her attorney followed a failed attempt to extort $250,000 from Cosby. In the document, Mr Singer dismissed the claims as "absolutely false". He is seeking damages for his celebrity client of more than $33,000.
The papers were lodged two days after Ms Huth launched her legal action claiming Cosby forced her to perform a sex act in 1974 when she was 15.
She alleges it happened in a bedroom of the Playboy Mansion after Cosby gave alcohol to her and a 16-year-old friend.
The court filing from Mr Singer said he and Ms Huth's attorney, Marc S Strecker, had several conversations about the allegations in the weeks before the lawsuit was filed.
Mr Singer claimed Mr Strecker had demanded increasing amounts for his client, "jumping" from $100,000 to $250,000, in return for not bringing the lawsuit.
He said the claimant had "rushed to the courthouse and filed this baseless time-barred lawsuit once she knew that she and her lawyer had been accused of engaging in a shakedown".
Mr Strecker was not available for comment on Thursday.
Ms Huth's lawsuit stated she only recently discovered she had suffered psychological damage as a result of the incident, which under California law would allow filing of the case.
But Cosby's lawyer notes that since she had made her allegations 10 years ago to a media outlet "she cannot claim to have repressed memory".
Mr Singer wrote: "Plaintiff and her attorney have engaged in deliberate and egregious misconduct by filing an outrageous, stale lawsuit asserting specious claims that have been time-barred for decades."

Since the average pedophile has 300 different victims in their lifetime and since the recidivism rate among pedophiles is virtually 100% they must be stopped ASAP!
