Bill Cosby’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Vandalized with Word ‘Rapist’

Posted in: ,

Comedian Bill Cosby will not be having too many laughs these days as accusations of sexual assault against him continue to mount. In the wake of these allegations, which some say number more than 20 at the last count, the 77-year-old's star on the Hollywood Blvd Walk of Fame has been defaced. The word “rapist” was written three times over the star with what looks like marker pen.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said Cosby’s star, which was defaced with a marker pen, was being cleaned up. The organisation filed a police report citing vandalism of a registered California state landmark.

They said in a statement:

'When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways than to vandalize a California State landmark. The star is being cleaned up at this time.'

Public sentiment against Bill Cosby continues to shift further away from the amiable and smiling dad persona he built with his eponymous TV sitcom, The Bill Cosby Show.

The allegations against him have led to the cancellation of his NBC and Netflix television projects and numerous live comedy concerts.

Also, his two university Alma Maters, Temple University and University of Massachusetts have distanced themselves from him by removing him from any official roles.

The U.S. Navy has also revoked the title of honorary chief petty officer, which they had conferred on the comedian since the 80s, saying the allegations conflicted with their principles.
