7 Adverse Health Effects of Consuming Excessive Sugar

Posted in: , ,

Sugar products have become an integral part of our lives, and most of us already know that consuming too much sugar is bad for us, but still, we are unable to cut down on it. As a result, we are depositing toxic quantities of sugar in our bodies such that even exercise cannot compensate for it.

Therefore, we will have to put our foot down and start cutting down on edibles like sugary beverages, baked products, junk food, and candies, etc. because they have numerous adverse effects on our health.

We have listed here seven adverse health effects of overeating sugar so that you can be encouraged to adopt healthy eating habits.

1.     Your heart will be at risk:
Consuming too much sugar increases the amount of insulin in the body, which damages the health of arteries as they get thicker and stiffer due to increased inflammation. This stresses the cardiovascular system and therefore increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

2.     Your brain will be at risk:
When you consume a sugary edible, your brain releases a feel-good chemical called dopamine, which makes you crave for more of such items. Thus, you will always find yourself hooked up just like a drug addict.

3.     Your weight will be at risk:
Different studies report that consuming an excessive amount of sugar is directly linked to drastic weight gain or obesity. If you are obese, evaluate your eating habits and find out ways to reduce your weight because obesity can further lead to various conditions like varicose veins and fatigued joints.

4.     Your joints will be at risk:
Consuming toxic amounts of sugar can drastically increase inflammation in your body, including your joints, and therefore you find yourself at the risk of developing diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

5.     Your pancreas and kidneys will be at risk:
The pancreas works by pumping out insulin when you eat a sugary product, and when blood sugar increases drastically, insulin is also pumped in direct proportion. As a result, your pancreas gets overworked and starts to break down, which leads to conditions like type 2 diabetes.

Kidneys are responsible for filtering out blood, but they get overworked when blood is loaded with excessive sugar. Following this, excessive sugar starts coming out of urine, and in the process, kidneys get severely damaged.

6.     Your teeth will be at risk:
Bacteria in your mouth love to feast on sugar and convert it into acids that rot your teeth. It can seriously affect the health of your teeth and cause them to decay and fall off. If you have rotten teeth, then getting an implant from Dr. Matt Slaven will not solve the problem because you have to change your eating habits first.

7.     Your liver will be at risk:
Sweet edibles have a considerable amount of fructose, which is processed in the liver and converted into fat. Excessive sugar leads to the build-up of fat in the liver, causing conditions like fatty liver.

In a nutshell, sugar is the poison of the modern era, and it must be dealt with carefully; otherwise, each system of your body will suffer the wrath of deadly diseases.
