Sisters Who Posed As Snapchat Models Sue The App For Making Them 'The Face of Sexting'

Posted in: , , ,

The general consensus seems to be that sexting is the primary use for Snapchat, an app that sends and then destroys selfies - usually nudes or scantily dressed ones.

This could be because the above original screenshots in the Snapchat App Store were of pretty girls in bikinis, and users of the app were warned of “Mature/Suggestive Themes” and “Infrequent/Mild Sexual Content or Nudity.”

Evan Spiegel, the founder of Snapchat admitted the mix-up in 2012 saying;

“To be fair, our early marketing materials were a bit amateurish. I took those photos on the beach with friends. They were fun and playful at the time, but didn’t represent how the app was actually being used.”

Now, the models of those pictures are taking him to court for big bucks!

According to TMZ;

Sarah and Elizabeth Turner claim in 2011 they were approached by Evan Spiegel, who at the time was a Stanford student and developing an iPhone App called "Picaboo."

The girls say Evan convinced them to let him shoot pictures of them playing on the beach. They say it was a free favor ... just to promote Picaboo.

They claim one of the photos was edited to make it look like Elizabeth was pulling off Sarah's bathing suit top ... and that they were nude on the beach.

Fast forward to 2014.  Picaboo morphed into Snapchat -- which the sisters claim is now valued at $10 BILLION. That playful bikini pic effectively became the face of the App.

The girls are particularly pissed because Snapchat is now the premiere sexting App and they say they've been tainted by its tawdry reputation.
