Aminat Akanni, has been arrested by Lagos police for allegedly abducting her stepchildren and killing one of them.
Moshood Mubo, the father of the two children, told police that Aminat is his second wife, and he believes she abducted the children because she wanted to “punish him for not buying Sallah clothes for her own son, and for failing to take care of her.”
Aminat was arrested on October 9th, at CMS Bus stop at Lagos Island. After the arrest, she confessed to abducting the kids and confessed to killing 4 year old Nofisat. She is said to have killed her stepdaughter, Nofisat, by pushing her into a soakaway.
Punch reports that the distraught mother of the abducted children, and who has now lost her little daughter, could not stop crying.
"Aminat killed my daughter. She made us to have a sorrowful Sallah. We were running around police stations. She said she wanted to punish me and my husband because she was having issues with us. So, why did she not come after us, why after my two children?”
Nofisat, 4, and her brother, Lateef, 7, had been reported missing by their father on October 3rd, a day before the Sallah celebration. The police managed to trace the missing children to Aminat Akanni after a family friend called to say he'd seen Lateef with her around CMS bus stop.
