"Annie" With Quvenzhané Wallis Leaked Online By Hackers Alongside 5 Other Sony Movies

Posted in: , ,

Five Sony Pictures DVD screeners watermarked for various awards were leaked online over the weekend including musical feature, "Annie" which stars young Oscar-nominated African American actor Quvenzhané Wallis in the title role with Jamie Foxx.

It is speculated that the cyberattack is linked to upcoming Sony Pictures film "The Interview," about a CIA plot to assassinate Kim Jong-un. However, due to the legal clout of Sony, it is expected that these movies won't stay online for long. They are currently being streamed and downloaded on the torrent sites, and are being quickly snapped up.

A Sony Pictures Entertainment spokesperson is quoted as saying,

"The theft of Sony Pictures Entertainment content is a criminal matter, and we are working closely with law enforcement to address it."

NBC reports that hackers tied with North Korea could be behind the hacks because "The Interview," a Seth Rogen comedy advocates for overthrowing the North Korea leadership. However, there is no proof at this time.

The leaks occurred after an attack on Nov. 24 by a group of hackers called the Guardian of Peace or #GOP. Company-wide computer screens were replaced with a message stating “Hacked by #GOP” and a warning that the hackers would release private information if their demands were not met.

Other movies that have been leaked include Brad Pitt's "Fury", "Still Alice", "Mr. Turner", and "To Write Love On Her Arms". Most of these movies are not even out yet and Annie is to premiere Dec 19. Poster and more more set photos below...
