Bill Cosby's Wife, Camille Cosby, Releases Statement On Rape Allegations

Posted in: ,

Bill Cosby has mostly been silent in the face of the dozens of sexual assault allegations against him, and his wife even quieter. But today, Camille Cosby has released a full statement that defends her husband.

"He is a kind man, a generous man, a funny man. A different man has been portrayed in the media over the last two months. It is the portrait of a man I do not know."

Mrs. Cosby, in a statement first reported by the CBS Evening News, referred to Rolling Stone's reexamined story of rape at the University of Virginia which some had compared to her husband's actions.

"The story was heart-breaking, but ultimately appears to be proved to be untrue. Many in the media were quick to link that story to stories about my husband -- until that story unwound."

Mrs. Cosby's statement asked the public to think about who could be the true victim of these allegations.

"None of us will ever want to be in the position of attacking a victim. But the question should be asked -- who is the victim?"

Just a few days ago, Bill Cosby himself had spoken briefly to Stacy Brown, a freelance reporter at the New York Post, asking for neutrality and praising his wife.
