Men Who Fall in Love Later In Life Tend to Experience Erectile Dysfunction

Posted in: , ,

New research has found that those who didn't say the 'L' word until later in life may have problems in the bedroom. The survey, conducted by the Charles University in Prague, also suggested that problems with erectile dysfunction could be directly related to how good a relationship a man has with his mother.

The study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, shows that having a strained relationship with your mother as a boy can lead to sexual issues as an adult.

For the study, 960 men aged between 15 and 88 were asked about their sexual habits, like premature ejaculation and length lovemaking lasts.

They were also questioned about their relationships with their mother and the age that they fell in love.

The research wanted to find whether a man's mental state as a child and teenager affects their physical state in the long term.

The study concluded that: 'The association of poorer current sexual function with (historical) older age at first being in love might suggest some enduring conflict regarding sexuality and/or intimacy.'
Which means means that men who have more difficulties with sexual functions later in life had also tended to fall in love later on.

Regarding the relationship between men and their mothers, the study found: 'One explanation for this finding is that psychogenic factors (when a physical illness stems from an emotional stress) may play a more important role.

This means that if a man has emotional issues as a young man they may stem into physical issues in his later life.

Although the survey is not conclusive and can not completely prove the relationship between bedroom problems and psychological ones, it did suggest there is a link between the two.

Rachel Sussman a relationship specialist told Yahoo Health: 'Some folks have trouble focusing on the moment during sex due to stress/anxiety, overactive minds, trouble letting go, and relaxing.

'Others have more serious psychological issues which may impede intimacy — and it's important to tease out which camp you belong to.'

'These issues may be related to trust, unmet expectations, and other loose ends that need to be tied up.

'You need to get to the root of what is really troubling you and make a repair before you can move forward.'
