Pregnant Woman Has Fetus Cut From Her Womb While Answering Craigslist Ad For Baby Clothes

Posted in: ,

A woman who had placed an ad to sell baby clothes on Craigslist has reportedly stabbed a pregnant woman who answered the ad and cut her fetus from the womb. Police say the woman who placed the ad offering baby clothes for sale, Dynel Lane, 34, attacked the victim in Longmont, Colorado, on Wednesday. Lane is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and child abuse knowingly/recklessly resulting in death, Longmont Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur said.

According to the CNN report, police were called to a apartment in Longmont Colorado yesterday March 18th and on their arrival, they heard a woman inside screaming for help. An entry into the home revealed a 26-year-old woman with stab wounds in the stomach. She told them she had been 7 months pregnant, and was assaulted, stabbed and the fetus had been forcefully cut out of her womb.

The victim was then transported to Longmont United Hospital, where she had surgery and is expected to survive but the suspect implicated for the stabbing, a 34 year old woman, then arrived at the same hospital with the baby at the same time, and claimed she had miscarried.

Sadly, the premature baby did not make it. Officers added one and two together and arrested the woman who is now facing charges of attempted murder and child abuse.

The name of both women has not been released, but police said they did not know each other. Detectives are searching the home of the suspect, and also asking other women who responded to her ad to call them.

This is not the first time crimes have followed after Craigslist users responded to ads on the site. A couple were killed in January after going to look at a vintage car that someone was offering to sell. Now, some police stations advice sellers and buyers to meet at a safezone, and some offer meeting rooms at the police stations.

UPDATE VIA DAILYMAIL

Police have revealed the identity of the female suspect as Dynel Catrece Lane, 34, pictured above, adding that she was taken to hospital by her husband. Lane was reportedly carrying the victim's dead baby and telling hospital staff that she had suffered a miscarriage. After speaking to the victim, police were able to arrest Lane at the hospital at 7.46pm on Wednesday.

ABC7 reported that the husband believed his wife had suffered a miscarriage. Police would not comment on whether the suspect had recently been pregnant. Public records revealed that Lane is a certified nurse aide.  KDVR reported on Wednesday that a baby registry was set up in Lane's name last year and listed her due date as November 14, 2014.
