Menu Idea - Moi Moi Cooked With Sliced Sausages

Posted in: ,

This was one of the best moi moi I've made in a while. I think I'm really getting the hang of using beans flour to make moi-moi. Recipe coming soon.

Pregnant Kim Kardashian in Little Black Dress

Posted in: ,

Many fashionistas and people generally seem not to like Kim Kardashian's pregnancy style and have been quite voluble in stating their concern, worries and sometimes plain beef. It's either her clothes are too tight, too loose and makes her look fat, or her heels are too high.

But maybe she has a better sense of it? Being petite and chunky with her bump, maybe maternity style clothes will swallow her whole. I like this LBD on her, and at least the shoes don't look like they're squeezing the life out of her feet.

BIC - Baby in Chief or Blue Ivy Carter?

Posted in: ,

I saw this picture and found it funny and cute at the same time. Who is the BIC? If it's Baby-in-chief, did Barack and Michelle Obama have another baby without letting anyone know. OK, it's Blue Ivy Carter. There's another picture below :)

You Are More Beautiful Than You Think - Dove

Posted in: , , ,

I first understood what it meant as a girl to have others judge your physical looks. It was in my junior secondary school, we were in a group and the other girls were talking about how pretty each of them looked, from the hair, eye brows, nose and mouth, and how they felt this would determine their chances with being popular with the boys.

Folasayo Dele-Ogunrinde and Her Battle Against Cancer

Posted in: ,

I got to know Folasayo Dele-Ogunrinde as a writer on the same website I met Atala and she wrote fiery articles about sexism, and gender, and relationships. You either loved her writing or you didn't. I loved the way she thought and how outspoken she was, and though she used an alias, I later got to find out her real name, and followed her career.

Folasayo was also a visual artist, performance poet, public speaker, filmmaker and actor, and one of the first Nigerians I know who used Kickstarter to raise funds for one of her projects. By then we had connected on Facebook and exchanged one or two messages. She went offline for a beat, and when she came back last year, it was with news that she had stomach cancer.

Is Infidelity Always The End Of A Marriage?

Posted in: , , ,

We've all heard the story, either a public figure or celebrity, or someone we know confesses to an extramarital affair, and tongues start wagging. Sometimes, the marriage in question withstands the infidelity; other times, the breach of trust is too deep, and the couple splits. The question of which marriage will, and which will not withstand infidelity continues to be a guessing game.

More Women Taking Their Husband's Last Names After Marriage

Posted in: ,

Recent studies in America have consistently shown that the number of women taking their husbands' last name after marriage is on the rise. A longitudinal study published in 2009 found a increase in women leaving behind their maiden names after marriage, starting in the 1990s. In an April 2013 survey by HuffPost Weddings and YouGov, 61 percent of people surveyed said that women should take their husbands' name.

Behind The Prevalence of Baby Factories in Nigeria

Babies rescued from a baby factory in 2011 - Vanguard

I started this post with the brief thoughts I shared about this news that another "baby factory" has been found so soon after a previous one was raided. I honestly feel that those taboos/stigmas I listed there have no place in a 21st century world. They may have worked in the past where the mass media was a word yet to be coined, or where most women got married before 15, not any more.
