Black History Month Bloggers Giveaway Hop - Win A Love Rekindled

The first time I heard about Black History Month, I was wondering what it was all about, I had just arrived in the UK from Nigeria in 2006 then. Now, having lived in the diaspora now for over five years, I see why it is very important. Wikipedia describes Black History Month as "an observance of the history of the African diaspora in a number of countries outside of Africa."
This February, I'm joining some other bloggers to observe it, and hope to learn more about Black History in America. Hopefully, I can also present some black history from Africa.
Reflections of a Bookaholic and Mocha Girls Read are hosting these hops as a way to give black authors, books and those who support them a month in the spotlight. This Giveaway is open Feb. 1 - 7, 2012. Winner will be announced on the 29th of February.
To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment with your email. There will be 2 winners to be selected randomly.
1st Winner (US) gets a paperback copy of A Love Rekindled.
2nd Winner (Anywhere) will receive a PDF eBook of either of my two novels.
You can read the books' synopsis on my Free Reads Page.
Also, to thank you for coming, my novellas - Scores to Settle and Love Happens are available in the Amazon Prime lending library. Do check it out if you're a member. I hope you enjoy. :)

Hello Myne, i posted a few comments in older blogs of yours and i would appreciate a response.
ReplyDeleteThe 'What to expect from Myne Whitman Writes in 2012' and 'Naija4life book campaign' posts to be precise.

Hi Jakes. I will look through the posts and reply soon. Thanks!
DeleteHi Myne, One of my friends posted this on FB today and I thought considering that you are observing Black History Month this month I wondered if you'd seen it. Unfortunately I don't know how to share it here but here is the description of it and if you go to the website of Letters Of Note it is the second entry down. You may already be aware of it, if so my apologies.
ReplyDelete"A newly discovered letter from a freed former slave to his onetime master is creating a buzz. Letters of Note explains that in August of 1865, a Colonel P.H. Anderson of Big Spring, Tennessee wrote to his former slave Jourdan Anderson, requesting that Jourdan return to work on his farm.
In the time since escaping from slavery, Anderson had become emancipated, moved to Ohio where he found paid work and was now supporting his family. The letter turned up in the August 22 edition of the New York Daily Tribune."
Best wishes, Sally
Thanks for calling my attention this this letter. I have just found it and it is indeed noteworthy. I will be sharing it soon.

Thanks, will do.
DeleteHi, Myne,
ReplyDeleteFor the first time, I'm also participating in a Black History month event. We observe it in Jamaica, but not in the way it's done in the U.S. We just kind of adopted it.
We don't do it in Nigeria as I guess most African countries don't. But it sure is a great way to teach history to the younger ones.
DeleteI would love to be entered in this giveaway. thanks!

I feel bad for saying this, but for the past two years, the main reason (not only but main, lol) why I looked forward to Black History month was because of the feast that accompanied the celebration. This year just might be different...just might. Thanks a lot for the giveaway. I'm entering!
