This sort of news just saddens me because I know it should not be so. We cannot keep losing our women in the prime of their life due to what is usually preventable maternal mortality. And I also ask, if this happens to celebrities who can usually afford to take themselves and family to real hospitals, what about the poor women we may never hear about?
Charity Odoemelam, the wife of comedian, Elder Odoemelam popularly known as Elder O passed away on Saturday Dec. 6th just a day after she gave birth to the couple's first son. Charity and Elder got married in January, and by December of the same year, she is gone.
According to reports, Charity had a very difficult labor and complications following the birth...and though she survived the child's birth, who was born alive and well, she never recuperated and died the following day.
A bereaved Elder O announced her passing on his Facebook wall. And this after he had already rejoiced that she gave birth successfully on the day before. This is just so sad. May her soul rest in peace. Amen.
