Christopher Robinson and Terry Torres met at college in upstate New York four years ago and fell in love. They have been together ever since and have a son together. In a sad turn of events, Robinson was diagnosed with a rare form of renal cancer last August and was given a few months to live.
A few weeks ago, he was checked into a hospice to await his final moments. But Robinson wanted to fulfill a promise to marry his college sweetheart before that time comes. The Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care [MJHS] hospice helped the couple organize their wedding and they shared the beautiful and moving pictures on their Facebook page.
They wrote;
There wasn't a dry eye yesterday afternoon during the touching nuptials of Christopher Robinson and Terry Torres at the MJHS Hospice residential inpatient unit on the grounds of Menorah Center. The couple's son, CJ, served as the dashing ring bearer, with a sweet accessory that only a child can pull off...a balloon tied to his little wrist.
Christopher is 25 years old, has metastatic medullary renal cell cancer and is a gunshot wound survivor. Through it all, Terry has been by Christopher's side in sickness and in health.
The wedding was truly family affair. Moms of the bride and groom dabbed their eyes. A proud father of the bride walked his daughter down the aisle. Aunts, siblings, friends and MJHS Hospice staff were thrilled witnesses and cheerleaders. And, hospice music therapist, Charla Burton, provided the wedding's soundtrack.
What a wonderful way to end the week!
