Last month, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, announced that he and his wife were donating $25 million to help fight Ebola, through the Centers for Disease Control Foundation to empower all those fighting the deadly virus around the world.
Today, Facebook has added an Ebola button so that individual users who want to donate to charities fighting the disease can do that directly from their profile pages.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced the Ebola donation button with a video on his own profile page, saying
I want to make sure Facebook does its part to help fight Ebola. So today, we’re announcing three things:
- We’re providing internet connectivity in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to help medical and aid workers track cases and coordinate their response.
- We’re sharing information on Facebook, in partnership with UNICEF, to help people in the affected and nearby countries prevent, detect and treat Ebola.
- We’ll soon be highlighting the work of some of the non-profits leading the fight on the ground, and giving everyone on Facebook the ability to donate directly.

BBC reports that the money will go to International Medical Corps, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Save the Children.
