Amazing Photos From The Replica Titanic II Scheduled to Set Sail in 2016
The Titanic II is being built by Australian mining billionaire Clive Palmer under his company The Blue Star Line. Mashable reports that in 2016, the Titantic II will make the route from Southampton, England to New York, with 2,600 passengers and 900 crew members crew members on board.
The ship will be a nearly-exact replica of the original Titanic, expect unlike the original, it will have enough life boats for all those it carries.
Passengers will be given 1920s period costumes to wear, and sticking with that theme, the ship may be sparse on other modern amenities, such as Internet and TV, said Palmer.

Picture Postcards From Lagos - Danfo Hustle
By Devesh Uba
Danfo is clearly the symbol of Lagos. I think these yellow buses resonate with the spirit of the Lagos city. These VW vans are always in a hustle, moving people from one part of the mega-city to another. The conductors are often standing out, feeling the Lagos wind on their faces. I have also heard the song 'I am a Danfo driver' and I quite like it. I have no doubts, if you look at Lagos from skies it will look all yellow :)

Funke Akindele On Set With Hilda Dokubo and Eucharia Anunobi
If you're an early follower of Nollywood, these pictures may bring back memories from way way back. There seems to be just one or two waves of Nollywood actors, but there are much more. Ramsey spoke about not having many Nollywood role models, but before the days of Ramsey and Genevieve, there was Saint Obi and Liz Benson. In that pantheon is also Hilda Dokubo and Eucharia Anunobi among others. I'm glad they're working again. See more pictures below.

Throw Back Thurday - Bringing the Sexy
This was about 5 years ago. I was already living in the UK and traveled to Nigeria for vacation. Like someone said in the last tbt post, my youngest sister who had just entered university then said, Myne, you're always very serious and formal. I know you're older than me, bla...bla...bla... but come let me show you how to let your hair down."
I already had the dress, which I often wore as a top to tights or jeans, the shoes, accessory and the hair. But she provided the makeup and put it all together. At the photographer's studio, she provided moral support as the guy reeled out model instructions - "head to the side, strut it, flaunt it, head up, hands bent, etc."
I love you sis, and I can honestly say, this was the picture that got Atala across seven oceans and seas to come get me. #trueword. Since then, I know it's quite important to sometimes not be so grown up and serious. You can also either be young and carefree, or you can bring the sexy!

It's been a while I did one of my usual picture weekend, but with the sun making a brave comeback for spring and Summer, hopefully I can get some better shots worth sharing. These are from about a couple of weeks ago, and the sun was almost blinding that day. Loved it :)
Hope you had a great weekend. All the best for a new week.

Another picture from way back when, this was 97 after the October rush of my first year in the university. I really loved this blouse, which was thrifted from my mum's 70's closet by the way, and would wear it all the time. And how adventurous I felt then, using colored extensions, this was the very first time, and I'll always remember this picture for that, lol...

Our Cirque Du Soliel Experience - AmaLuna [Pictures]
AMALUNA is Cirque du Soleil's latest creation and currently touring the Seattle area. We found out just before valentine and would have loved to make an anniversary event of it. However, that day's tickets were sold out. We saw it a couple of days ago, and even then, it was still sold out. Totally worth every penny of the ticket price, I loved it.
Cirque du soleil presents contemporary circus experiences, with the traditional jugglers, aerial performers, acrobats, dancers and clowns fused with modern music and a story. AmaLuna is a magical romance, inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest, and takes place on an island where women (Ama) rule along the cycles of the moon (Luna).
"The daughter of Queen Prospera is undergoing the rituals of her coming-of-age ceremony when a group of young men is caught up in a storm and stranded on the island. Prospera's daughter falls in love with one of the brave sailors, but the two lovers must overcome many trials and setbacks before finding peace together."

Rounding off 2012 in Portland Oregon - Weekend Pictures
When deliberating on what to do or where to go for Christmas or New Year, we didn't want to go too far so it was either a staycation at home, another city in our state or something similar. We settled for Portland in neighboring Oregon, it is actually closer to us here than some other cities in Washington, and we'd never been there before.
To add some pizazz, we decided not to drive, and instead bought Amtrak train tickets to and from Portland. It was roughly three and half hours, and that was time we could spend doing whatever we wanted instead of one person being stuck behind the wheel. Something funny happened, we almost bought tickets to Portland, Maine. The price first tipped us off, and the fact that it took three days to get there. We shined our eyes properly and were able to select our correct destination in the end.
The train ride to Portland was quite comfortable, I could say luxurious even. It was the Coast Starlight enroute to Los Angeles, and had and upper level in coach where we sat. The leg room was so much I was jealous. Why? Because I couldn't reach the leg rest attached to the seat in front of me. Turns out, the train thought of everything. Both the food tray and leg rest had extensions so I was able to use them easily. Our return was on the Cascades, which though not as shiny, was comfy still.

Pictures of Some Foods I Cook
Sometimes I cook. I usually cook enough to last a couple of meals or more. Sometimes I remember to take pictures, but usually at the end of everything. And having thought about blogging about home cooking, I have found that I may never like to take pictures step by step. I don't think I'll make a good tutorial blogger, but I'm working on better camera skills to back up recipe posts, coming your way soon. Below are some so-so pictures of food I cook. The bigger images are below these small ones:)

Library of Congress, Washington DC - Weekend Pictures
As winter knocks on the door over here, bringing cold temperatures, ice pellets, rain and more rain, I look back with fondness to this summer and our brief time in Virginia and DC. I remember back then though when we landed at the airport, it was over 100 degrees and I felt like I would either fry like an egg in a pan, or melt and steam away. Now I want some of that heat to magically be transferred to Seattle. I wonder how warm or cold it is there, right now.
Anyway, we took the train to our hotel in Alexandria, rested in the air-conditioned confines of our room and by the evening, I was feeling more adjusted. We went out for dinner, settled for Chinese takeaway, and while they were getting it ready, we took a stroll around the area.

The Colors of Fall - Weekend Pictures
Hey everyone, hope your weekend has been going well? With the time being turned back today, Fall is fully here and we're beginning to hunker down for the sorry weather that comes with it. Some days are not terribly bad though, and we had one of those last week which we utilized to the max by walking to the library.

Right from when the Martin Luther King Memorial was commisioned last year, I filed it away as a bucket list item, so when we planned a DC Trip, it got into our itinerary. It did take some walking to get there and a little drama with a couple of bike-rickshaws, but it was a trip worth making. Here's what the National Park Service says about the monument;

The Iconic White House and Washington Monument
Is there anyone who visits Washington DC and who does not go see the White House? I knew I couldn't miss it, I even sent a notice to Obama that I was coming. Unfortunately, he had to meet with Hillary that day, the only excuse I would accept of course, lol. Seriously though, you can send a request through your local rep to get a tour of the White House, our timing was just off as the days we were in DC were not in the schedule.

Eko Tourist Beach Resort Lagos - Weekend Pictures
While we were in Nigeria in July, we stayed in Lekki with a friend for a few days, and I got to check out that part of Lagos. Our host actually drove us all the way down to the new Lekki-Epe airport and the Free Trade Zone which are both still under construction. On our way back, we stopped over at the Eko Tourist Beach Resort. The resort is located at Akodo, on the Epe Expressway, quite far from even Lekki, about an hours drive. Luckily, the roads are quite good.

At the Newseum in Washington DC - Weekend Pictures
As a blogger, you can imagine that I was very interested in the new media section of the Newseum in Washington DC during our last trip. Another section I liked was the front pages from different countries and cities of the world. The section on 9/11 made me cry with the audio/visual showcase, may the souls of those who died rest in peace. Enjoy the pics...

More of the Smithsonian - The Sculpture Garden
Just so you know that the Smithsonian is not all musty and stuffy museums and galleries, there is the Sculpture Garden that takes you outside and into the fresh air. There is an eclectic mix of sculptures in various media all displayed with commentary.

Washington DC - A Day At The Museum 1
Hi Peeps, hope your weekend has started off well? You won't guess where I am right now, Nigeria! But hey, nothing much to report. I'm still adjusting after the trip which took almost 24hrs, being searched after testing positive for explosives, jet lag, and many other traveling adventures. So while I settle down to write those down, enjoy these pictures from Washington DC. These were taken at the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of American History.
